Hi Brandon, I've looked on the internet for some information, I've also e-mailed wildlife to see what they have to say, I have not heard anything back from the wildlife dept.  If any animal has enought ticks it can make them sick.

hey cathy, the rabbit was still alive when i found him in the snare ! but will ticks do anything to the rabbit?

I found with the brass you have to be very carful when looping the eye. You have to do it by hand. If you loop the wire over, and bite down with a pair of pliers to spin the eye it makes the snare extremely weak. Just try a few and test to see how easy they give up by bending them back and forth...its BS!!!

Hi Brandon, immediately after the rabbit dies, the ticks detach themselves and crawl off.  If the rabbit was in the woods for a couple of  hours you would not of seen any ticks,

Personally I think the brass and 6 strand wire is all a crock! Its along the same lines as the steel shot for ducks! There will be a lot more wounded rabbits with bits of wire hanging off them going off and perishing in the woods! I don't say I'm the only one that feels this way

yeah ive noticed it two ive lost 4 snares due to them breaking off and the one i got was still alive and after we killed it the snare was just about off .

Ben I've noticed the exact same thing. I don't know how many rabbits I lost last winter to snares snapping off, and already this year I have had at least one snapped off. I understand the reason they say we have to use the brass and copper wires, so they rust off the trees, but they're in no was strong enough to hold the average full grown rabbit from my experience.

Brandon,  In the Terra Nova area i had about half of my rabbits shredded to pieces or chewed on while still in the snares.

Anybody having extreme difficulty with the 6-strand or brass? I set up about 30 snares on the west coast last week, caught 4 rabbits, and 3 other snares were broke off - no question a rabbit was caught and broke free.... i almost feel like going SS again!! - and i do notice a lot of people still do use SS. I've been using 6-strand and 22 gauge brass since they changed the rules and have lost quite the few rabbits. Anybody else seeing the same?
