"That is a good question Shawn. On page 18 of the hunter and trapper guide it states that the limit is 20 birds per person with a possession limit of 40. I do not see anything about having 80 if four people are aboard the boat. It used to state that…"
"We went out from Argentia. A Federal wildlife officer was there as well as a provincial wildlife enforcement officer. They were handing out information pamphlets and just asking a few questions about bird species. They were particularly interested…"
"Federal wildlife were checking all the boats on the water today which was the first time I ever saw that. They were mainly interested in the condition of the birds and that there were no unlawful species. There weren't a whole lot of boats out…"
"I thought it time to weigh in on what amounts to govt interference on our natural resources. The Island & particularly the Avalon Peninsula is awash with either sex moose licenses. The roadside cull has 600 either sex licenses alone. You can…"
"Yesterday while checking a few rabbit snares, I came across a dead bull calf on a sod farm off the Markland road. It had its throat cut and obviously the perpetrator knew what happened. They shot the cow as well as there were ravens and a bald…"
"Got me moose and never fired a shot. I witnessed three guys on a hill firing at two moose on a bog. They downed a cow but the bull got away. I knew they struck the bull and they never even went to check on it. My buddy and I decided to check out…"
"My buddy and I are having a hard time getting an animal in area 31 for the first time ever. Very few moose left here. I have covered a lot of country. Sad. Wildlife told me that only one moose has been taken on farm. They said it is a different year…"
Last years consultation meetings bore out some good input which needs consideration.
1. Absolutely no tags system as it will be environmentally negative to sea birds with locked tags around…"
For the past number of years there has been an active campaign to drastically reduce the number of moose in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. This campaign would have moose management shift away from a scientific, logic based management strategy to an emotional, fear response management strategy. The number of moose-vehicle collisions has been used to grossly misrepresent moose populations throughout the province. These numbers are being presented and decisions are being made that…See More
Wow, I just looked up where you are on a map. Incredible. Probably some of the most beautiful country to be kayaking in. Yeah, I've had my fair share of wildlife encounters on a kayak that I would not want to re-create. Seals, sea lions, and even a humpback whale! The ocean is wild enough for me!
I'll send you a PM with my email address. Thanks a million, Boyd.
Hi Boyd, Thanks for getting back to me. I was curious about the cod fishing you've done, not the trout. I figure for trout I can try any number of lakes close to me as kayaking on a lake is a lot safer than the ocean.
I just read a comment you wrote last year (I believe) about you fishing for cod and did ok. Not looking for specific spots, just an idea of how far off shore you go in that area. I'm in a kayak and I'm trying to find safe spots to go. Also for the sake of privacy, feel free to send me a personal message. I just moved to NL from Alaska and don't know anybody here which is why I'm looking to connect with people over the internet, so no worries about me spot burning.
Just type " The Big Triangle Pond Mineral Exploration Access Road " into your Google search bar and you can see what I am talking about . The NFHA has written a strong letter of protest to Minister Joan Shea against approving this proposal as it now stands . The picture which you posted is a perfect example of of our reasons for doing so.
