PAL on hold with RCMP since May

Back in May my son applied to have his expired PAL renewed.  On the application it asks if you have ever had a peace bond filed against you.  These peace bonds are a dime a dozen out there and are not something that will ever appear on any criminal record, since no crime has taken place.  My son had a peace bond filed against him in 2011,  Someone was pissed that my son ended up with his girlfriend.  Insults via text messages were sent and the old boyfriend filed a peace bond on my son.  Since…See More

Illegal cabins

I am constantly coming across illegal cabins on crown land.  I am busy going through all the hoops to get a location legally but I am beginning to wonder why bother.... really.  This week I came across three very nice illegal cabins, very nicely built.  I know for sure they are illegal since development has been restricted, and no registration number is posted.  Is there a reporting process or do we all just do what ever the hell we want to. See More

hunting with drones

Pretty much everywhere in North America it is illegal to hunt large game for 24hrs after you have been flown in to your hunt camp.  It has to do with unfair advantage and fair chase.  I have just been wondering about the ever increasing use of drone technology.  If you have a camera on a drone you have immediate direct feed from that drone flying around looking out over the bush.  These are much more affordable than getting your pilots license and owning or renting a plane.  Is it legal to hunt…See More

Moose population down. Unofficial cull?

Okay we can start reducing the amount of moose tags being issued every year.  The numbers are way down and hunters are spending a lot time and money on a slim chance of getting their moose.  Yes I know some got their moose on opening day, great, but I would suggest that this is not as common as it was just 5 or 6 years ago. On the northern Peninsula, a few years ago, people were seeing 50 moose a day just driving around, this year however much much less.   One guy told me he only saw 6 moose…See More

St. John's Rod and Gun Club

Once again waiting and waiting to get my membership at the Rod and Gun club.  The attitude on their web site is very adversarial and if I were to mention that to them they would delay my membership by another month.  Seems to me that if it takes that long for members to have memberships renewed the should get more volunteers willing to process these applications.  I would be willing to do a handful. Really.....I would.  At this point it is hardly worth getting a membership anymore.  There…See More

Our response is that we have formed this group with our own money and incorporated it so that there is a voice to address this silence . I suggest that you read the info that was suggested in my original post .

 Hi Kevin.
In response to your reply, here is something to think about. In the 2011/12 moose hunting season there was an increase of 5,020 [ Five thousand twenty ]  in the number of licences issued  over and above the 2010/2011 season Quota , in response to concern involving moose/ vehicle Collisions [ "not accidents" there is a difference. There was a decrease of 630 in the 2012/13 season and a further reduction of 1500 for this coming season. The moose population was in decline before the increase and yet Eugene Nippard of SOPAC is up in arms because of the 1500 licence reduction . He fails to mention that the quota is still 2890 [ two thousand eight hundred ninety] over and above the 2010/11 season which was already in decline .This decline was observed by myself and numerous other hunters and outfitters right across the island who spend a great deal of time in the woods. Yet the response to this slaughter, by groups, such as the one you say you have recently joined is . to this day  "" zero"". You have an opportunity to be a part of a " Voice " that will deal with this and many other issues that plague outdoor lovers, such as ourselves , or to be a part of the  " silence ". In the end  THE CHOICE IS YOURS .
